Hudson and the Hoo Doo Cats

The discography

Hoo Doo Happens - 1992

This wasn’t the first rendition of the band, but It was the first to record and my first production. It’s all originals. We took turns with songs and it was my first experience in a real recording studio.

Hoo Doo happens

Hoo Doo Time - 1994

This was a huge production that was a big disappointment at the time for several reasons. The bright side of this album is the great performances by the incredible musicians. All of that was preserved.

Up To Now - 1997

I had no rights to my recordings from Hoo Doo Time, but they were still my songs, so we recorded them again and added a few new ones. John Logan played guitar on all tracks. Fred Shaughnessy, Art Dwyer and Tom Maloney covered the bass and Benet Schaeffer added his flair on percussion.

And That's Right Too - 1998

We were bitten by the Swing and Rockabilly bug. Added a few originals. Just a trio. Real live sound. John Logan on guitar, Jason Van Demon on upright bass and I’m playin’ my stand up drum set.

Roll With A Punch - 1999

More Rockabilly than Swing plus a few new originals.
John Logan on guitar and Mike Graham makes the scene on upright bass.

And Friends - 2002

I made a deal with the record company that owned the rights to the recordings of “Hoo Doo Time” 1994. With the incredible skill of Doug Rayburn, the fixin’ began. Took my favorite recordings of my songs and one of John Logan’s. All the songs were re-sung, edited, remixed and remastered. Was a thrill to get our hands back on these master tapes. (Hah, actually had them all along, just couldn’t use them). Hall of Famer Johnnie Johnson, Texas Hall of Famer W.C. Clark, Texas Hall of Famer Jesse “Guitar” Taylor, Larry Lange, Mike Roberts. So many of Saint Louis’s top players (please read the inside cover) all of them Hall of Famers to me and, of course John Logan on every song. This CD made me very happy when it came out.

2 Cars - 2006

I think they both needed to be reordered, so we made a few changes and put them together. Also added the great Matt Murdick on keys to some of the songs.

Live At The Casa Loma - 2006

It was a fun night of dancing at the famous Casa Loma Ballroom. It was John Logan’s 60th birthday. Matt Murdick killin’ it on the keys. Mike Graham slapping the hell out of his aluminum upright bass with Logan on guitar. All captured by Doug Rayburn.

And Friends 2 - 2009

First 20 Years -2010

The big compilation of all the originals. This was the last project that I did with the great Doug Rayburn. He took every 2 inch master tape I had and made digital copies. Doug was such a great guy, incredible musician and master of the recording studio he built, Benton Park Studio. These recordings would not exist without Doug. Until recently, I have not recorded since his death. This is the only album that is available to listen to online.
